For many, Y Bont provides a lifeline
Y Bont is a specialist and unique child and family centre based in Bridgend, South Wales which provides a unique range of day services for children with disabilities, complex medical conditions, emerging Autism, Down syndrome, visual impairment, hearing impairment and their families. We offer help and advice to parents/carers and provide respite services 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week. Y Bont is a registered charity and opened its doors in 1997 after a group of families identified the need for an accessible and safe provision for disabled children in our area.
At Y Bont we believe that every child with a disability should be helped to fulfil their potential; we exist to help them do so. We have made it our mission to help children and their families in a range of ways through information, practical, social and emotional support.
We know that one approach doesn’t fit all; each child is unique in their ability, personality and behaviour. Because of this, we follow a child-centered approach which recognises the individual needs of each child that attends Y Bont. Our services are regularly inspected by regulatory bodies such as Estyn, CIW and Environmental Health.
Our staff are experienced, specially trained and caring, they truly love the children they look after. Referrals to us via can come via their health professional, social services or directly from a parent/carer. We welcome children from 6 weeks up to 12 years old with the provision of our after-school club, Saturday club and holiday club which is funded via the Big Lottery for 5 years as of 2020.
Y Bont is a golden thread that runs through the children’s lives, for many we are a lifeline. We are here for them from 6 weeks of age and with our additional clubs we can be a constant source of support to these children and their families’ right up until their teenage years.
