Our Facilities

We welcome children from 6 weeks of age

We can accommodate children from six weeks of age, children with complex medical needs, Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, visual and hearing impairment as well as those with challenging behaviours and life-limiting conditions. Core services for our children and families are available five days a week, 50 weeks of the year. The Y Bont team are experienced, highly qualified, and caring specialists. Our child-centered services are regularly inspected by regulatory specialists such as Estyn, CIW and Environmental Health. Our children can play and learn in a happy, safe, and stimulating environment. Our goal is to enable disabled children to achieve their full potential – our core value is empowerment. Being a charity, we achieve all of this through fundraising, donations from supporters, grants, trusts and corporate sponsorship.

SENSORY ROOM

The Sensory Room provides a learning environment which stimulates all 5 senses. Ford Bridgend employees designed and fitted the room to meet the needs of all children with sensory needs. Additional funding was provided by some of our incredible fundraisers, Nicola Loveluck-Jones and The Round Table, Bridgend. They raised in excess of £5,000 to fund sensory toys and equipment foe the room.

PARENTS' ROOM

Our Parents Room provides a communal space where parents and staff can get together in an informal manner to talk about any problems they have, offer support and meet up with other carers in the same situation. The room can also be hired by outside agencies.

SOFT PLAY AREA

The soft play area is used by the children to provide a break-away space from the activity hub in the Playroom. They have great fun letting off steam in there.

PLAY ROOM

The Playroom team follow the Foundation Phase for all children and the zoned spaces provide a hub for a wide variety of sensory and therapeutic experiences ranging from construction, maths, literature, role play, music, cooking and gymnastics as well as creative pursuits and gardening.

AFTER SCHOOL ROOM

The After-School Room is our new space which is used for our after-school club children. It is a purpose designed room to offer space, freedom to play and explore as well as a chill out area. This room is also available to hire weekday mornings with the capacity for 12 people. For more information about hiring any of our rooms please contact admin@ybont.com

THE QUIET ROOM

The Quiet Room provides the team with a space for babies to conduct baby massage, a ‘chill-out’ zone, a location to carry out 1:1 observations with the children as well as a quiet and relaxed space in which the children can enjoy reading or playing quietly.

MOVEMENT ROOM

Our newest room here at Y Bont. This room was especially designed to help our children self-regulate and enjoy the feeling of movement and freedom.

It was designed by our nursery staff, created and fitted by Rhino Sensory and kindly funded by global company, Freudenberg Gas and Oil Technologies Ltd who have been a great support to Y Bont.

The addition of the room has meant that we can accept more children into Y Bont.

THE PLAYGROUND

The children love outdoor play in our new and purpose-built area. The playground was funded by global company, Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies Ltd. Following a successful application, Y Bont received a grant of £54,000 and the support of employees from their Port Talbot branch who gave up many weekends to volunteer and complete the work. We would also like to thank Bridgend Rotary Club, Prescott Jones insurers Ltd and Rob at DBS Paints who provided the extra money and supplies to enable the front garden to be completed. The playground and garden were designed and built by specialist play company – Pentagon Play.

THE SENSORY GARDEN

We worked with Bridgend’s Youth Offending service who, in 2015, constructed an exciting Ark and Beach Hut in which the children are able to play and be creative. Through funding from Freudenberg Oil & Gas Technologies Ltd, Payton Jewell Caines, Tondy Men’s Shed and the Rotary Club we were able to create a stimulating sensory garden in 2018. The stimulus for this space revolved around touch, sounds via chimes and drums.
